This limited-edition print is based on Théodore Géricault’s celebrated equestrian portrait of an officer of Napoleon’s Imperial Guard. Painted in 1812, the original work helped launch Géricault’s career and became an icon of Romantic art. The dramatic pose of the rearing horse, the officer’s twisting figure, and the stormy battlefield sky all convey the energy and heroism associated with the cavalry of the Napoleonic era.
